Parumala Hospital has inaugurated Kerala’s first comprehensive interventional radiology department, named St. Gregorios Advanced Interventional Radiology Services (STAIRS). This groundbreaking initiative was blessed by the Catholicos of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III. The event was co-officiated by the Secretary of the Holy Episcopal Synod, H.G. Dr. Yuhanon Mar Chrisostomos.
Prominent dignitaries at the event included Fr. K.V. Paul Ramban, Manager of Parumala Seminary, Er. Varkey John, Secretary and Project Director of the hospital, Fr. M.C. Poulose, CEO of the hospital, Fr. Thomas Johnson Cor Episcopa, Finance Coordinator, Fr. Jiju Varghese, Chaplain, Dr. Sherin Joseph, Medical Superintendent, and several members of the hospital’s management committee.
Dr. Bibin Sebastian, the Director and Consultant Interventional Radiologist, is at the forefront of STAIRS. Dr. Bibin Sebastian, who completed an advanced fellowship in vascular interventional radiology in England, brings a wealth of experience to Parumala Hospital. From St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, he received both his medical degree and his postgraduate degree. Prior to continuing his education in England, Dr. Bibin was an assistant professor at the medical colleges in Kannur and Calicut.
In addition to his qualifications from the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists and European Board of Interventional Radiology, Dr. Bibin has worked as an interventional radiologist for the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) for the past five years.
The launch of STAIRS marks a significant milestone in Kerala’s medical history, providing cutting-edge interventional radiology services to patients across the state.
