Parumala Hospital Gives New Life to Baby Born at 24 Weeks

A baby girl born prematurely at 24 weeks, weighing just 600 grams has been given a new lease on life at the neonatology unit of Parumala Hospital. After three months of intensive treatment, this little one has been returned to her parents in full health.
The baby faced multiple health challenges, including low birth weight, growth restrictions, respiratory difficulties, feeding problems, and underdeveloped eyes, requiring complex care and intervention. The treatment team comprised neonatologists Dr. Sukanya M.K, Dr. Nithya B.G, and Dr. Shyam Kumar S, along with the dedicated nursing staff in the newborn unit.
The mother, who arrived at the hospital experiencing labor pains at 24 weeks, received care from the senior consultant gynecologist Dr. Grace Kuruvila. Notably, another baby born at the same gestational age was also treated at the hospital and successfully returned to health just a month prior.
Parumala Hospital is equipped with modern ventilators and offers round-the-clock services from neonatal specialists, ensuring comprehensive care for newborns.
