As its name implies the Ayurveda department has been established in the St. Gregorios Medical Mission Hospital, Parumala in 2016 January with the objective to promote authentic Ayurveda treatment systems thereby empowering generations with perfect health.

As in many other fields there is a big difference between the original and imitations in the Ayurveda Sector and always at the expense of quality. The St. Gregorios Medical Mission Hospital is therefore whole heartedly committed to giving the visitor and his health authentic treatment.

The hospital building is with air conditioned, non-air conditioned rooms, wards, clinical laboratory, Panchakarma treatment chambers, Dispensary etc. Ecg, X-Ray, MRI’s, OT’s and other lab facilities ensure authentic & perfect investigations. Rehabilitation facilities including Physiotheraphy etc are available. The out patient departments of the Ayurveda Hospital has extensive facility for consultation with expert physicians. Prior appointment can be taken for consultation. OP consultation is available in all the days from 9:00 Am to 4:00 Pm except Sundays. Patients should bring all documents related to his/her ailments. Well trained para medical staff and well equipped classical Ayurveda Pharmacy is on round the clock duty. Procedure for wellness and curative treatments are done ensuring hygiene. Good quality food and pure drinking water is ensured. Excellent ambience providing peace of mind for a healing touch.

Treatment Procedures

All classical treatment procedures which has been written by our great Acharyas are performed classically with outmost care. Some of the treatment procedures are described below :

1. Abhyangam :

A whole body massage is done with specific herbal oils which is a deeper procedure to remove toxins from body and to revitalize body tissues. This mainly cures obesity, diabetes etc, improves sleep, blood circulation, rejuvenates the whole body, beatifies skin and thus delays aging.

2. Pizhichil :

Medicated oil is poured on to the body in continuous streams and gently massaged for 45 to 60 minutes. It is rejuvenating and strengthening. This is mainly indicated in pramcham, vatarogas, swasa etc and increases body immunity, blood circulation and alleviates burning sensation.

3. Shirovasti :

Ayurvedic herbal oils are poured into a cap fitted on the head for 15 to 60 minutes. This is marvelous for neuralgia, hemicaria, facial paralysis. It increases vitality and body immunity, blood circulation, reduces anxiety & stress.

4. Kativasti :

In this process warm medicated oil is kept over the lower back for 45 minutes to 1 hour. This relieves pain, spinal abnormalities etc.

5. Podikizhi :

Herbal powders (podi) are applied to whole body in boluses with or without medicated oils for 45 miuntes. This relieves pain, stimulates nerve endings, in osteoarthritis, spondylosis etc.

6. Njavara Kizhi :

Specially prepared medicine is tied in muslim bag and is applied on the body. This is applied by 2 to 3 masseurs for 60 minutes. It mainly strengthens the body, improves muscle tone, gains body weight and also disease conditions like paralysis etc.

7. Dhara :

This is a special kerala panchakarma treatment in which medicated oil / buttermilk / milk is poured on to forehead for 35 to 45 minutes. It improves mental state, profound relaxation of mind and body. The medicine changes according to the dosha condition. Sirodhara is good for all ailments, strengthens CNS, sense organs, offers sleep, decreases hypertension, diabetic neuropathy, paralysis, psoriasis etc.

8. Anjanam :

Special treatment for eyes are bathed with epical herbal decoction for 15 minutes. It’s good for dry eye, Cataract, glaucoma etc. Other treatments specialized for eyes are putapaleam, Tarpanam (medicated ghee is poured into eyes) etc.
