The Psychiatry and De-addiction Department of Parumala Hospital organized an event to commemorate World Mental Health Day. The gathering was chaired by His Grace Dr. Yuhanon Mar Chrisostomos, the Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese, and inaugurated by the esteemed MLA of Konni, Mr. K.U. Janesh Kumar.
During the event, Dr. Rebecca Abraham, who has recently taken charge of the Psychiatry Department, was honored. The hospital also launched the “Arike” initiative, a confidential counseling service aimed at addressing the personal and work-related mental health issues of hospital staff.
Attendees included the hospital’s CEO Fr. M.C. Poulose, Chaplain Fr. Jiju Varghese, Medical Superintendent Dr. Sherin Joseph, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Kuruvila P.K., Consultants Dr. Sethu P.S. and Dr. Rebecca Abraham, Principal in Charge of Parumala Social Science College Mr. George Varghese, and Clinical Psychologist Ms. Jesika Samuel, all of whom were present to support this important initiative.
